The Freedom to Choose documentary was produced by the University of Santa Monica (USM) and shares the story about the Freedom to Choose Workshop held at Valley State Prison for Women in 2007. It has won numerous awards, including the award for Best Documentary at the 2009 Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
The inmates at Valley State Prison for Women teach the skills they learn to their children, spouses and parents and have told us many inspiring stories of inter-generational healing from afar. Due to the California state budget cuts, most other educational programs in the prison have been eliminated. Your donation will support an expansion of this work - even a small donation makes a difference!
Participants from a Community Project in Santa Barbara share about their experience of the Freedom to Choose Workshop.
